It's one that's only saved by its cinematography, its score, and the cast. That's about it, because the cast is absolutely saddled with every cliche seen in horror films and poor dialogue.
With their rover's power low, the survivors — Campbell, Irwin and Lane — decide they must get to the other rover, which is still at the site of the fissure.
Under the pretence of a scouting operation, Irwin steals the second rover and fails to persuade Campbell to abandon Lane, who he states is infected.
Irwin meanwhile conceals evidence of his possible infection. While Campbell and Lane wait for the sun to rise and the solar powered batteries to recharge, they discuss the nature of the zombies and Lane questions whether any human consciousness remains trapped in them.
Campbell attempts to comfort her and falls asleep. When he wakes up alone, Campbell realizes that Lane has fled into the desert and he chases her.
Lane, who knows she is likely to turn, fails to deter Campbell from following her and in desperation, commits suicide by removing her helmet.
After she dies, Lane reanimates and begs Campbell to destroy her. Campbell reluctantly complies by bashing her head in with a rock.
Campbell and Irwin separately converge on the Aurora lander, where the reanimated Aldrich kills the lander's crew. Petrovic and the other zombies appear desiccated and inert.
An infected Irwin initiates a launch, which takes him and Campbell into orbit. Campbell stuns Irwin and ejects the body and virulent blood droplets into the vacuum of space.
In a message to mission control, Campbell says he does not have enough fuel for a rendezvous but supplies aboard can last for months if they want to launch a rescue.
He tells them that this might not be advisable as he could be infected; if so he has just enough fuel for re-entry and a fast death. Campbell concludes that it will take 15 minutes for the transmission to be received and will await their reply.

Apr 29, Not a particularly good, or interesting, movie. It's one that's only saved by its cinematography, its score, and the cast.
That's about it, because the cast is absolutely saddled with every cliche seen in horror films and poor dialogue. It has to be said, but I think this film has some of the worst character development I've seen in a while.
Nobody has a discernible personality nor are they particularly likable. Doesn't help that they're also cliched as hell.
Stock characters in a stock movie with a good setting. That's all this film is. It doesn't really build to anything, everything you're watching ends up feeling really pointless by the end of the film.
What's the point of it all? Why are these people here? Why should I care about them? These are all questions that should be answered, but they're not.
They're researching whether there's any sign of life in Mars, that much I can get. But I don't think that's enough, you could have told a thought-provoking story about the isolation of being in Mars, even if you have several characters, I think it could still work, being isolated from the world and in an unknown place, plus the stress of not accomplishing your mission as you're one day away from starting the trek back to earth.
You could still have zombies in there, but it'd have been a vastly better movie if you actually added more dimensions to the story and to the characters.
As it stands, this is is just a standard zombie movie set on Mars, nothing more nothing less. And I mean, essentially, there's only two real "zombies" in the film, the third and fourth ones don't really count as they're quickly disposed of.
You mean to tell me that the survivors can't dispose of the first two people that were infected by the virus? Liev Schreiber himself kills three on his own, but apparently Dalby and Malko, the first two that were infected and the ones that lasted the longest in the film, were far more difficult to kill, even though I'm pretty sure they could've been taken out easily if, you know, more than two of the crew, teamed up to take them down.
It seems so ridiculous to me that this would get taken as far as it did and that makes watching the film a little stupid sometimes.
Seems pretty fucking simple to me. That might actually get me to bump the score down from 2 stars to 1.
People do this in zombie films all the time, no reason they couldn't have done it here. How hard could it really be? So, in the end, this thing got out of hand due to stupidity and ineptitude on the crew members' part.

The story of a research crew of eight inhabiting the Tantalus Base outpost on Mars was interesting but not developed in details.
We witnessed the events in the last 19 hours of the six month mission which was to finish with a rendezvous with the lander Aurora, which will return them to their main orbiting craft.
Nothing special was happening until the scientist Marko Petrovic Goran Kosti? Crewmate Richard Harrington Tom Cullen drives Petrovic, in a solar powered rover, to the spot where he had found the sample The movie was engaging enough to create continuity of the story without creating a major drama!
