The problem is none of the stories are interesting. One person found this helpful. This is a strange tale where quirky people are portrayed in all their weirdness, and the story line evolves in ways you would never expect with intersections between characters and outcomes.
My favorite is Brad Pit; he is best playing to his manic side, and shows his diversity and brilliance by being someone clearly the opposite of who he really is as a person.
The movie itself left me feeling unsettled, but at the same time feeling like a witness to fateful events that were masterly carried out and characters masterly portrayed.
Funny, funny, funny movie! Every actor, every character is a gem. The plot is good, the writing creative, the acting superb.
I'm not a huge fan of Brad Pitt, but he nails the kind of dude he plays in this movie. He's perfect and hysterical!
This is a dark comedy, and a pretty good one. I recognized even some of the minor character actors in the movie, which was fun.
A really good watch and good value for a movie you won't regret watching. If you like standard, run of the mill movies, particularly comedies, with nothing too offbeat You have to catch the joke of each character.
If you like dark comedies, this is a good one to add to your collection at a bargain price. This is one of those movies that I'm going to have to watch it over and over and then I think I will eventually love it, kind of like "The Big Lebowski.
There is also no point really, no story line. I mean, there is a story line but it is a really silly story line.
It's almost like a "where's waldo" puzzle or looking at a painting where you appreciate all of the little dabs of color here and there. You appreciate all of the little insignificant side characters as well as the main characters and little one liners etc.
So, I think the first time you see it, it's like "I think I need to watch that again. Saw this movie years ago when it first came out on DVD- don't remember it making any kind of a strong impression on me.
The story is fun, the performances convincing and there were plenty of laugh out loud moments courtesy of the dialogue and storyline.
I don't really understand the reviewers that are complaining about the language and violence- you're watching an R rated film, what exactly are you expecting?

This film is very, very dark, however it is also very very funny, it is certainly a very acquired taste of funny as it deals with situations and circumstances which are generally not assumed to be humorous, and at times you do feel a little uncomfortable with the fact that you are finding it funny.
John Malkovich is outstanding as the on the edge CIA operative who you see unraveling before your very eyes, and seeing Brad Pitt portrayed as a complete moron and George Cloony as a pathetic loser is just sublime.
The premise without giving anything away is that each character is having some kind of mid life crisis due to circumstances they are in and those circumstances collide and become entwined with the others and situations escalate and a farce ensues.
I would be the first to admit that it is certainly not everyone's cup of tea and you have to have a pretty unique sense of humour to fully appreciate it and see the humour, but it is a very well crafted film and can be enjoyed on many other levels.
I fear he has completely missed the point. Methinks he doth protest too much, as it is clear Ricardo, me old china, you are clearly not English and so can be excused, certainly forgiven, for not grasping one of the great joys in Life: irony!
What trenchant hauteur! Perhaps you are the John Malkovich character and his meltdown cuts too close to the bone? I, for one, am really sorry you cannot see it.

What strikes me about this film is how they all play such superb incompetent sets of individuals skilled only in one thing and that is being a collection of losers.
And as for Linda,s obsession with cosmetic surgery the main theme that runs through this film I have met people like this, and what you would like to tell them is they would be much better off with almost a complete body transplant, and by default that is what she gets in the end, the only one to come out of this grand fiasco with any plus points at all.
Brad Pitts bungling incompetence is played to a fine art, whilst George Clooney,s dedicated obsession with his wife's surprise present is definitely worth seeing, and as for John Malkovich he is continually on the point of meltdown brought about by his employer and his wife's actions.
In conclusion I would say you have to be in tune to this particular humour, which lets face it is tongue in cheek blacker than black.
